Science
At Little Sutton C of E Primary School, we aim to excite and stimulate children’s natural curiosity to enable them to make sense of the world in which they live. We encourage questioning and exploration, valuing and building upon their existing ideas. Our intention is for all children to develop a scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. They will be equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.
The science curriculum we follow fulfils all the requirements of the National Curriculum Science Programmes of Study and the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. Through a carefully developed progression of knowledge and skills, our pupils will develop an understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them.
Little Sutton C of E Primary School has adopted Science Bug, by Pearson. This scheme is progressive in terms of skills and knowledge to be learnt as children move through the school. Our children understand that ‘for with God, nothing is impossible’.
To the right you will find our science statement, curriculum overview and progression of skills.
