Red Kites Class
Welcome to Red Kite class!
My name is Mr Walker and I am the Year 1 class teacher.
Some of the topics we will look at this year are:
1: Cold places – activities for this topic include: exploring our school grounds and the people that work in the local area; The North and South Poles – investigating the animals that live in this harsh environment mammals, fish, amphibians, birds, reptiles.
2: Hot places of the world – Red Kites will become safari explorers investigating hot countries around the equator. Whilst on safari year 1 will look at the animals in these hot places / mammals, fish, amphibians, birds, reptiles.
3. Toys – year 1 will learn all about the how toys have changed in living memory. What did parents and grandparents play with? How are these toys different to the toys of today? Materials – what are toys made? As scientists Red kites investigate the materials toys are made of and the properties of these materials.
4. Plants and seasons – children will be introduced to the idea of plants as living things which grow and change over time. Children will learn to recognise the common features, similarities and differences between plants.
