Red Kite Class
Welcome to Red Kite Class
Through learning and playing together, we will work to support our children to become:
Resilient
Engaged
Ambitious
Creative
Healthy
Autumn 2
This half term, Red Kites will be reading ‘Nibbles The Book Monster’ by Emma Yarlett. This is a story of a naughty monster who nibbles his way through some well-known fairytales – what mischief!
In History, we will be learning about the similarities and differences between childhood now and in the past. Children will create simple timelines and discuss special memories. This unit of work is perfect for formulating conversations at home with family and friends.
In RE, we will be asking the question ‘Why is Christmas celebrated by Christians?’.
I am really excited for the half term ahead and I look forward to all the fun and festive activities in the lead up to Christmas.
We can’t wait to share our weekly learning journey with you on our school Twitter feed.
A Day in the Life
We utilise every minute of the day to immerse our children into their learning. Please see our timetable below which outlines our weekly coverage for Autumn 2.
Expectations
‘Reading is a passport to countless adventures’
The teaching of reading is at the heart of our school, and we believe that story time is sacred. Children in Red Kite Class will have the opportunity to enjoy a story being read aloud to them every day. In return, we expect all children to read at home to an adult every night – strive for five!
PE will be taught on a Wednesday and Friday. Children should bring their kits to get changed into whilst at school on both of these days.
We also encourage pupils to bring a bottle of water into school every day as well as one healthy snack to enjoy at break time.
