Head of School’s Weekly Blog

3rd May

This week at Little Sutton CE Primary

On Monday our ‘Change For Life Champions’ Aparnaa and Lola attended further training at the EP Sports Village, supported by Mrs Graham.  Our ‘Champions’ are working hard in school to encourage pupils to make sugar swaps and provide a lunchtime sports club on Fridays to encourage children to get active.  Keep up the good work girls.

Tuesday’s Edsential brass lesson was lots of fun and the fun can now continue at home.  Pupils will begin bringing their instruments home to practise each week.  Fun for all the family!

Governor, Gareth Powell met with Assistant Head, Mrs Randa as part of our pupil progress monitoring.  He will share this information with the Governing Body to continue to support the school in moving forwards.

Let’s Walk was a success with Year 3 enjoying the chance to work with the PSCOs on road safety.  They impressed with their sensible approach and wonderful listening skills. We know our pupils hear these messages from parents on a daily basis, but hearing it from the people whose job it is to keep our streets safe, makes it all the more pertinent.

Our Year 3 and 4 cricketers played some outstanding cricket with many other schools commenting to Mr Bowness on how talented our pupils are.  We finished 4th out of the 12 schools competing – excellent result for our first outing. A big thank you to our parent helpers; without your support, these events couldn’t happen.

Coming Up Next Week

  • School is Closed on Monday for May Day Bank Holiday.
  • Wednesday 8th – Friday 10th May is the Year 4/5 AEMS residential to The Conway Centre – a multicultural exploration of the arts.  The most commonly forgotten items on residentials are a towel and toothbrush…be sure to pack them Chestnut Class.
  • Due to the Bank Holiday, I had hoped to move SATs Booster Club to another day however this has not been possible.
  • There will be some collaborative learning around the theme of ‘Creation’ in the school during the week as we look to update the ‘Ark Gallery’ in the main corridor of the school.  Children will be working together, in mixed age groups to support each other during parts of the day and we look forward to showing off the results.

Coming Soon

  • 13th – 16th May Year 6 SATs.  Parents and pupils have received a letter.
  • 14th May 9:30am is the deadline for Academy Photography orders.  Order details are on the proofs sent home last week.
  • 23rd May is European Elections and we will again be a Polling Station.
  • May 27th – 31st School Closed for Half Term
  • The Little Sutton Community Festival takes place on Sunday 30th June
  • SPORTS DAY 14th June.  (If weather calls off play, 21st June is a back-up.)
  • The School Choir will reconvene to prepare for a number of community events during the summer term.  Details to follow for members.

Enjoy another long weekend.
